The “one thing”
Motivational speakers love to show a clip from the movie City Slickers. The scene is one where Curly (Jack Parlance) tells Mitch (Billy Crystal) the secret to success… discovering your “one thing.” And the point is that you will succeed, nay, be a success, the moment you identify your one thing. Your purpose. Your raison d’etre.
Presenters would do well to ask themselves that same question.
If your audience remembers one thing from your presentation, what is it? Does everything you present support making that point?
Too much information is a sure way to fail. Remember your “one thing.”
